Why I Don't Like Black Friday

You know, after the commercialisation of everything from Easter to Mother's Day to Halloween - you'd think we'd squeezed every possible penny out of the special days in our calendars - but NO - it appears there's still enough room to JUST MAKE ONE UP!
I'm honestly not sure why it bothers me so much.
I mean - everyone loves a deal - right?
You know - up until recently in the UK - the term "Black Friday" was used by the Police and the NHS to refer to the Friday before Christmas, because the emergency services had to have contingency plans to cope with the increase in workload due to so many people going out and having a little bit too much pre-Christmas spirit.
Over in the USA (and now just about everywhere else in the world) the term that we now use for a "Super Sale" started in around 1951 - was created (pretty much for the same reason) by the police in Philadelphia to describe the overwhelming crowds and traffic congestion on the day after Thanksgiving - the day which signals the start of the Christmas shopping season.
Any way - every one over at Lucrum House has told me I'm old fashioned and behind the times.
