Why I Create Content On LinkedIn

Why I Create Content On LinkedIn

“Imagine that there is no money involved with the work - Would you still do what you do?” This is the one question we get asked when we seek ‘meaning’ in our work. We all crave that today - meaning in our lives, some purpose.

“You’re not going to fix the world’s problems by yourself. But you can contribute and make a difference. And that feeling of making a difference is ultimately what’s most important for your own happiness and fulfillment”.

This wonderful quote beautifully words “WHY” I do what I do. I empower organizations in their Diversity & Inclusion journey, making spaces around us more inclusive and accessible - could be to include persons with disabilities, people from the LGBTQ+ community, people across genders, and other underrepresented groups. Being mindful of our own biases, unlearning, and learning ways of communication to create belongingness.

While I was doing the work, I was thinking ‘Is there a way, I could facilitate conversations, and discussions and reach a larger audience?' The answer came easy – Yes, social media! And LinkedIn had to be my go-to platform. Why LinkedIn ?

World's professionals were here so sharing on LinkedIn was a natural extension of what I do. As I was learning, and coming across interesting reads, was posting. ?A year on and Gary Vaynerchuk convinced me to share videos ?? Nah! Never met him. C'mon, it's 2022!

I had only a few likes, sometimes none but what kept me going were the one or two text messages I would receive – once a month or sometimes twice. My criteria has always been

‘If I could just create just a tiny bit of impact for one person, it’s a success

– so the wonderful 'thank you' or the encouraging texts kept me going. ?Another year on, and I found myself on the LinkedIn Top Voices 2022 feature. It was such an honor! I paused... and said “Oh My! Now, I really have to work.” ?I started putting a little more thought into my daily shares and I received more encouragement from the awesome people on the network. The messages that came in, now more frequently, propelled me to read more and share more. I also featured on the Spotlight Content Creators, leading conversations around LGBTQ+. Along with this, I landed an awesome opportunity – to be a part of India’s 1st LinkedIn Creator Accelerator Program (CAP).

Creator’? ?? Wow!!! Is that so.

So, began my wonderful journey with LinkedIn's fabulous top 200!

  • The everyday learning from my fellow 199 creators has been priceless. The kind of openness to share, collaborate and grow is unparalleled. I am indebted to many.
  • The opportunity to learn from none other than Nuseir Yassin . He blew my mind. I stopped taking notes - I didn't want to even blink. Thank You Nuseir, for a session that only you could make happen.

Ankur Warikoo , from popping on my screen ads, was now sharing his learnings in a session. Wow! I was so struck by his honesty. So much to learn. Learnings from Radhika Gupta , Pooja Dhingra , and many more.?

Attending such open & honest sessions from the biggies is definitely not an everyday occurrence. I am extremely grateful for these opportunities. The support from the LinkedIn Team to become a better version of myself on the platform has been nothing short of ‘amazing’.

So this must be all...... Nah !!! ??What else did I have the pleasure of receiving?

I love your premise Shashwati P (She, Her)! And it's thought provoking too - would we do what we do now if there was no money in it! It's a true test of passion and a benchmark for our real intentions about our work! :)
