Why I Care About The Cost of US Groceries
We love how Robynn Storey can make the most annoying topic (rising cost of her groceries ) entertaining. She's the voice of common sense here and always keeping it real.

But all joking aside, this is a very serious topic that concerns all of us. Why? Because America's economy is the leading economy in the world. It's no secret that it's on an unsustainable path forward, since so many of its systems are no longer working: there's the health insurance (and medication) crisis, the student debt crisis, the looming real estate crisis, millions living in poverty and homelessness, millions addicted to substances, millions dealing with violence inside the home and in their community, mass shootings, and the list goes on and on.
On the one hand, the US has the strongest economy in the world. But at the end of the day, the economy is a reflection of our relationships and that is clearly in a significant decline. So it's no longer a matter of if the US economy will crash, but when. And when it does crash that will have a very negative impact on the rest of the world, since we're all dependent on the American economy in so many ways. For example, much of the income from the lucrative high-tech sector here comes from huge US contracts.
There's no way to "justify a 200% increase in fruit or paper towels" and put it down to "inflation." Especially when your country is spending billions abroad on wars, on climate agreements that will not solve the climate crisis, and the UN that will not solve the food crisis or bring peace. So much money is printed for all these flashy causes that earn elected officials a few stars, but in the meantime half of the US citizens are struggling to make ends meet. Millions living off coupons and welfare, and in the leading democracy in the world. It's unsustainable.
