Why I can't stop challenging the super norms

Sometimes I worry that the super industry will think I'm a whiny brat. Or an obnoxious know-it-all thumbing my nose at them.
As someone who loves harmony, it's a tough pill to swallow. But I just can't stop speaking up. That's because superannuation is such a powerful, vital financial asset. And the accepted norms in our industry simply aren't good enough.
To be clear, our industry is jam-packed with dedicated professionals who genuinely care. I see them working tirelessly to engage Aussies with their super - no small feat - and striving to enhance retirement outcomes for us all. Such good, important work.
But I also see areas we can do better. Where we must do better. Because it honestly is a matter of life or death for some. And for the rest of us, the difference between a safe, happy retirement and one of compromise.
I believe that leaders cast long shadows and can create a profound impact. With that comes great responsibility.
And that's why, in order to deliver even greater value to consumers and the Australian economy, I believe it is crucial that we keep asking thought-provoking questions like:
?? Is this really the best we can do?
?? Can we make this even better?
?? Could we achieve more with a different approach?
I also believe that it's my personal responsibility to do more than just agitating and commentating. Now - to be very clear - I will definitely continue to do both of those! But I am also consciously striving to lead from in front, showcasing alternative ideas and solutions. My hope is to add real value to the industry, the Australian people, and the economy we all ultimately serve.
