Why at HROne, we call it “The Project Bahubhalli”!
Released as the most expensive Indian film in 2015, ‘#Baahubali: The Beginning’ took the entire country by storm and blurred the boundaries of #Bollywood and regional cinema like never before. The visual extravaganza blended with breathtaking locales, mind-blogging special effects, and an emotional storyline struck the right chord with the pan-Indian audience.?
Most people may not know, it started like any other move expected to take around a year to make. With every passing day, the movie to be made became bigger and bigger. It took almost half a decade for the movie to see the light of day. People who were a part of this journey believed they had lived an era.?
The journey of building HROne Inbox is no different! What started as a small 6-month project to up-heavel user experience took an eternity to complete. At that time we did not know we were building the world’s first InboxforHR! In the end, what came out, HROne Inbox, was not just magnanimous, but something that we ourselves did not conceptualize or imagine at the start! One of the reasons was that over the three years in making of HROne Inbox, people working on the project grew, evolved, and transformed in different ways - mentally, intellectually, wisdom-wise, as a person and for some of us like me - physically (I put on 10+ KGs). The product that came out was a reflection of the way we all had taken the leap.
Over these three years, we assembled a team of #iitians , #isbalumni , and #isc; we analyzed feedback and insights of 2000+ HR users;? we assembled a team of 20 power HR veterans for Beta testing and what came out after 360K man hours of craziness was something that was totally disruptive. If you look at it, there is nothing cutting-edge about HROne Inbox’s success. If at all there is, it is its simplicity - the simplicity of thought behind it.?
The thought was simple. We wanted to build something that had 0 learning curve. Something that captured the imagination of today’s audience. Something that was mobile first. We had one simple mantra - “We wanted to capture transactions in real time”. Alas- it's easier than done.?
As our team tried to find answers in real life, we started analyzing the reasons behind the success of emails in the last 20 years. At least in the professional spectrum, in case one receives an email one ends up either responding to it or taking the necessary action that is expected of one. This simple thought would later become the magic wand for the answers that the complete #hrtech fraternity has been grappling with for almost a decade.
What is HROne Inbox?
Inspired by #gmail, the philosophy of HROne Inbox is simple. Anything an #employee, #manager, #hr, #CXO, or the #admin is supposed to do, one would get a task in Inbox. As long as one keeps it inbox clean, one could rest assured of ensuring all things happen on time - every time.?

From this one single screen, one could not just track what needs to be done today, but actually do 200+ different types of tasks like onboarding, welcoming new joins, assigning salary structure, creating goals, doing performance reviews, completing confirmation feedback, exit interviews or surveys or what not in just 3 clicks! The complete Inbox was available on mobile. Our phenomenal UX teams ensured that things as difficult as creating goals or doing performance reviews were simpler to do on mobile than on the web.
Based on this we have not just enabled CHROs to truly automate HR processes, but track important metrics like process efficiency and ROI of the HR-Tech platform.?
But as they say, the idea is just an idea until it is executed thoroughly. With god’s grace and a bunch of highly inspired individuals we pretty much aced it to the core. During this journey, we went a step ahead from offering exceptional user experience to empowering CHROs to build phenomenal #employeeexperience. We took on the quest to be the first HCM platform to provide a full circle XM, the journey from candidature to evangelism. With help of SMEs - backed by theory, we packaged a host of old classic HR tools that powered HRs to build a culture of continuous listening, sharing on-time health communication, and enabling managers and employees to recognize and reward the contribution of employees, peers, and team members in real-time.
Just like Bahubhalli - the visual extravaganza blended with breathtaking locales (IDx), mind-blogging special effects (UX), and an emotional storyline that understood the pains of HRs, struck the right chord with the pan-Indian audience.
