If you’re a dynamic businessperson, then your LinkedIn page is likely packed with relevant information that attracts connections and maintains interest. You’re also creating and posting original content that stimulates discussion. Having such a dynamic approach is the best way to get the most out of your LinkedIn profile. After all, Google likes to give high rankings to LinkedIn pages.
Nevertheless, if you’re a multilingual individual who has his or her LinkedIn page set up in a single language, then you’re likely missing out on nearly 600 million users and valuable connections. Currently, LinkedIn is used by people in more than 200 countries. There’s a whole world of possibilities out there for your company, so why miss the chance?
Benefits of Creating a Profile in a Second Language
Overseas Expansion- If you plan to expand your company globally or need to use overseas suppliers, then it definitely helps to present your business professionally in the local language of that particular country.
Builds Trust- People are more likely to conduct business with a company they trust, like and understand. Making your business available to people in a second language will help attract new contacts and develop your reputation.
Starting Place for New Business Relationships- Most people search on LinkedIn when they’re looking for new professional contacts. When an internal search locates a professional profile in the local language, it increases your chances of developing new business relationships.
Good Search Engine Optimisation practice- A LinkedIn profile is necessary for SEO reasons. When you were building your original profile, you likely used relevant keywords. You must do the same with your secondary profile.
Which Languages are Supported by LinkedIn?
As of October 2018, LinkedIn supports over 20 languages including English, Bahasa, Arabic, Spanish, Turkish, Thai, Danish, Czech, Chinese, German and Japanese.
How To Create a Profile in a Second Language on LinkedIn 2019?
To set up your secondary profile in a second language, visit your LinkedIn profile page. In the upper right-hand corner, click on “Add Profile in Another Language”.
From the drop-down menu, select your desired language. Don’t forget to update your headline and name before selecting “Create Profile”.
Keep in mind, LinkedIn won’t translate your original profile. You will need to edit it and set it up in your secondary profile. To do so, choose your secondary language profile from the upper right-hand corner on the primary profile page.
Once you’re able to view your secondary language page, you’ll be able to edit the Experience, Education and Summary sections. You’ll notice that if you click on the pencil image in any of these sections, LinkedIn populates a snapshot from your primary profile to assist you.
How will LinkedIn Members View your Secondary Language Profile?
When a LinkedIn member views your profile, your primary account will be visible. If you have multiple profiles (i.e. secondary language profile) the page that is most relevant to the viewer will be visible.
Can I delete my second language profile?
Yes. To delete a secondary language profile:
- Click the Me icon
- Me icon at top of your LinkedIn homepage. Secondary languages will appear beneath your primary profile language, in the right rail of your profile page.
- Click the Dropdown icon next to your primary language.
- Click the X next to the language in which you want to delete your profile.
- Click Remove from the pop-up window.
If you're planning to grow your business, having a secondary language profile on LinkedIn can help you succeed

1 年The problem is LinkedIn won't translate every section of the profile. My personal experience is that I have to really choose one language to prioritize over others, because even if I change the profile language, some sections won't change to said language. That is a real shame, LinkedIn should fix this asap. It's ruining the experience for people with multiple audiences.
