Safety starts with Supply Chain Transparency

The BS2482:2009 standard determines what qualifies as a BS2482 "machine graded" board, with precise predetermined limits stated in the standard and the types of machines capable of producing these results. The machine used MUST be a STRENGTH GRADING machine. X-ray and Scanning machines do not comply with the requirements of BS2482:2009 as they do not mechanically test the boards strength.

Machine Grading certificates can play a key role in verifying if the correct machinery is being used in the production process. Some certificates, such as those issued by BSI, will display the machinery used so you can verify it is an actual machine.

If your certificate DOES NOT show the type of machinery used, we highly recommend you speak to your boards' supplier and get documented evidence of the type of machinery used in the production process.

This level of transparency is essential when is comes to ensuring site safety, due to the critical role of scaffolding boards which are used as a load-bearing working platform.

NOT ALL MACHINES ARE EQUAL WHEN IT COMES TO BEING COMPLIANT TO BS2482:2009 MACHINE GRADING STANDARDS.

So what machine do we use at Caspian Group Ltd?

We are fully transparent when it comes to our own UK-based production process and proudly use two MIRCROMATIC STRENGTH GRADING machines. Our machines are precisely calibrated each use to the BS2482 standard limits. Our production process is third party audited annually. You can download our BS2482:2009 certificate which verifies our machinery information.

Here's how you can authenticate your BS2482 Machine Graded (MG) scaffold boards are the real deal, to give you full peace of mind when it comes to compliance & Safety.

• Make sure you have a copy of your board Supplier's / Manufacturer's BS2482 MACHINE GRADED Certificate.
• Make sure the certificate verifies the type of machinery used in the production process e.g., Micromatic, Computermatic, Cook Bolinder - Otherwise ensure what is stated is a STRENGTH grading machine.
• If no machinery information is listed ask your supplier / manufacturer to send documented confirmation of this information so you can ensure it is a strength grading machine.
