Why Host a Hackathon?

Why Host a Hackathon?

Hackathons are a great way to bring together the community around your organization. Hackathons can be used to help build an app, improve the design of your website, or even come up with ideas for new services you can offer.

However, hosting a hackathon that is focused on building something for charity? That’s even better! Hosting a hackathon with a not-for-profit gives you an opportunity to show off what your organization does, stretches team thinking and improves team collaboration.

Excite, engage and retain your staff with a unique new activity

A hackathon is a great way to engage and retain your staff. You’re giving them a unique social challenge which pushes them to think differently on a kind of challenge they would not have worked on before.

Build a culture of innovation and resilience

Innovation is a mindset and a culture. It’s about learning, it’s about being open to new ideas, and it’s about taking risks in order to make things better for the people around you.?

Hosting a hackathon with a not for profit organization can be an excellent way to develop critical design thinking skills. The best part about this is that it's not just about solving problems and developing new ideas, but also about innovating.

One of the main purposes of the hackathon is to help teams solve real-world problems by providing them with resources and tools they might not have access to otherwise. By participating in these events, you will learn how to think critically about your own goals and objectives as well as those of others who are also trying their hand at creating something new or improving something old (or both!).

The power of Hackathons can be hard to grasp for non-engineers. I think it’s easy for us to forget that hackathons are about people too and all the different ways we can use them to help our community.

The best way I see a company using a hackathon is by creating an event that does more than just solve technical problems, but also promotes collaboration among these groups of people who might not otherwise have an opportunity to come together in such a way. This type of event gives everyone involved something unique and different from what they would normally experience during their day at work.
