Almost all job seekers use a strategy of hoping they'll get?lucky.
Instead, this strategy of hoping you get?lucky?... instead makes you un-lucky.
Even if this strategy ends up being successful, it slows your job search to a crawl. Worse, it's the leading cause of long term unemployment for those who aren't?lucky.
Don't think you're making this mistake? Ask yourself, how many of these job search strategies do you use?
If any of these job search strategies apply to your search, you're using a strategy of hoping you get lucky, but it actually slows your job search.
When you combine the "hope you get?lucky" strategy with random online job applications, while applying to so many jobs that your search loses focus, it makes your job search go even slower. You're investing so much effort into opportunities with little chance of success, and spending too little time on the positions with your highest chances of landing an offer.
To accelerate your job search, you need to do the opposite. Double down and invest far more time into the positions you have the greatest chance of landing, and ignore the positions with your lowest chances of success.
While this probably makes sense to you ... almost no one does it. Most career coaches, authors and outplacement firms don't teach it. You end up with a strategy that HR professionals and recruiters describe as "spray and pray".
Good thing there's a better way.
I help people solve the most difficult job search problems, including job search acceleration, getting past ATSs, ageism, remote positions, product/job function/career/industry/ geographic change, unemployment, "bouncy" recent career path, job search turnaround, seeking raise/promotion, industry in decline/consolidation, long term gaps, family leave, or other of the most challenging job search issues.
