Growing your clinic is anything but easy. And many owners know first-hand how tough it is to start from scratch.
There’s just so much to figure out.
I recall one of our clients asking this question:
How do you know if you’re even focusing on the right things?
You see, that client needed support and guidance in building a clinic that would survive and eventually thrive. Unfortunately, they couldn’t find the help that they needed at that time.
The client also found out how protective the other practice owners could be when it comes to sharing their success secrets. That’s why they can’t really depend on these owners for guidance.
Luckily, our coaching provided the client with everything that they needed. They now have a clear vision and a strong sense of direction for their clinic.
One of the key things that our client wanted to focus on was recruitment. This makes sense, as recruiting the right people is critical for all businesses, let alone one as specialised as a GP clinic.
Just think about what would happen if you don’t get this right.
For starters, you’re not going to be able to take any days off.
I’ve met many practice owners who are so involved in the daily grind that they can hardly take a break to save their own life.
In fact, I was one of those practice owners when I first started.
It took me a lot of time and effort to set up the processes for getting hiring right.
Sadly, I had another problem that I’m sure many owners can commiserate with. The clinic had no profits to speak of.
Everyone was getting paid more than me.
Missing family events also became a regular thing. Many practice owners just can’t afford to take time off for the most important events in their lives. So, they’re also putting their closest relationships at risk.
All these are some of the biggest issues you’ll face if you don’t have hiring systems in place.
In addition, if you don’t have a good hiring system, you might lose whatever you invest into a new hire. You could even spend tens of thousands to hire someone and get them up to speed, only for them to move on after a few months.
With all of that in mind, it’s safe to say that hiring is one of the first things that all clinic owners should focus on. Put in the right systems and watch everything else become effortless.
