On LinkedIN, there are 208,120 UK-based members working in the ‘Travel, Leisure & Tourism’ industry, yet the petition below has just 39,168 signatures to Extend furlough beyond October for the travel industry. We ALL need this to reach 100,000 before it’s considered for debate in the UK parliament.
I plead to those of you who haven’t already done so, to sign the petition here.
The travel industry is very closely connected to those working in UK Hospitality (353,010), UK Airlines/Aviation (135,992), UK Event Services/MICE (120,614), UK Food & Beverages (255,023), UK Restaurants (111,682), UK Event Services (120,614), UK Entertainment (161,332) and many more in the supply chain, so please help our industry by signing and sharing this post FAR and WIDE.
It’s clear the UK government doesn’t have a thorough understanding of the impact C-19 is having on ALL of the industries above, and how they’re all connected to each other; I believe now is the time to appoint a figurehead who can represent all of the industries above as ONE. Any takers?
About the petition
Extend furlough beyond October for the travel industry.
Consider extending the furlough scheme for those industries still being affected. The travel industry for example is still directly affected by decisions the government is making in regard to travel restrictions and quarantine which is preventing us from trading properly.
Whilst many industries are now able to trade either fully or partially, the travel industry is being disproportionately affected by travel restrictions and quarantines being imposed by the government. Many people have spent their lives working in the industry and once all this is over, those skilled employees will be once again required to plan and take the nation on holiday. Whilst restrictions remain in place, imposed by the government we cannot trade fully or make a recovery.

4 年Because just extending a furlough scheme doesn't solve most of the issues. And listening to most people on furlough it actually creates anxiety and stress as they don't see when they can get back to work. Furlough also doesn't cover directors of small companies either, which makes up a big chunk of our IC's... Start a petition to get the government to change the FCO advice for more safe destinations that are long-haul and sort this ridiculous airbridge system and the signatures will flood in.
