“Being at the top is difficult, but holding that position is even harder”?
According to the latest technology news, Walmart is using the power of generative AI and creating their own one-stop search solution.??
Say you want to watch a ball game with your friends. You will have to go shopping for and prepare a list.??
Now we all can relate to such situations where you forget to bring some items and live in regret for the rest of the game.? Walmart’s AI is created to tackle such situations.??
If you are planning a special occasion, you will search Google for the items you need. But with Walmart's generative AI all you need to do is put in some info about your event and it will give you a complete list of things you might want.??
In a recent interview, Walmart’s CEO Doug McMillon talked about the capabilities of generative AI’s search capabilities.??
He said “The thing we're most excited about that's already happened is the way search has improved, and the way generative AI helped us really improve a solution-oriented search experience for customers and members,"??
Now, this is a huge question about the future of Google search because, if we have to search for anything, we simply go to Google.??
But now that Walmart is becoming self-sufficient, the search methods will change.??
Google might be good for information but for other specific searches various companies like Walmart are coming up as competition.??
It is totally understandable that experiments can go wrong, like what happened with Alphabet’s Gemini AI. It was launched in the market way before it was ready.??
In some public appearances, Google’s co-founder Sergey Brin even admitted that the company ‘messed up’ with the launch of Gemini AI.??
Walmart is Not the Only One?
Google must be concerned about this because Walmart is not the only company investing in this type of software in the retail sector.??
Instacart's AI-enabled “Ask Instacart” lets customers search items by the theme like dinner, date night, or game night.??
Amazon’s AI shopping assistant Rufus, allows people to converse with the platform about what they need to buy and how they can get the best deals.??
Shopify has its own AI-powered “Semantic Search” that helps the sellers to sell their items to potential customers. It ensures that the search results are more accurate.??

In an interview, Jacob Bourne, analyst at Insider Intelligence said, “Google is anxious about search in general, and the question this raises is will it be a death by a thousand cuts for Google Search?”?
Now this is a huge statement!?
But somehow, it is the truth and Google must be concerned.??
Is Google Done & Dusted??
It is true that we are heavily dependent on Alphabet’s core search business for a lot of things. It has been ruling the search game for a long time and some new gen AI’s success can’t affect it so much.??
Retail industry Analyst Sucharita Kodali gave a statement that people are habitual of using google for most of their searches.??
She said “You use it for everything else (outside of shopping), and everything else is like 90 percent of the searches you do. So, unless Amazon and Walmart are going to get into the business of the other 90 percent of the searches, it's not going to happen.”??
Bottomline?
Well, if we talk about conclusion, there is a strong opinion based on the current performance of Google. They are at the top of the tech world and there is no doubt about that.??
They have been in the game for quite a long time that gives them an upper hand in the tech sector.??
However, what we cannot ignore is that our future is going to be tech oriented and after a certain point in time, there will be loads of competition suddenly.??
Big Giants like Amazon and Walmart have started unrolling their AI’s. Soon there will be multiple other companies with different niches who will apply the same formula.??
From the tech-world to the retail sector to the fashion industry and all other niches. Everyone will come up with their own search tools for the convenience of their consumers.?
This will be a disaster for Google search.!?
So, this is for sure that Google will have to look for some new sectors they can jump in and secure their top position.??
