Why is Google always reactive ??

Last year’s Google walkout, which saw more than 20,000 employees protest the way the company protects male employees who sexual harass female colleagues, has led to an upswell in employee activism. Now, Google leadership tends to face yet another substantial decision around ethic, moral and value.
Yes. Kay Coles James can cause more harm to the LGBTQ+ community through the world's powerful AI tools than any other government, policy or legislature. She should never be on the Google board. Period !!
When Google announced an external advisory board for AI projects last week, the company framed the decision as a step forward in accountability. Last year, the company had announced a set of principles for how to build AI tools, and this board, the company suggested, was the next step toward a more transparent Google. Actually transphobic Google.
On internal message boards, employees described James as “intolerant” and the Heritage Foundation as “amazingly wrong” in their policies on topics like climate change, immigration, and, particularly, on issues of LGBTQ equality. A person with James’ views, the employees said, “doesn’t deserve a Google-legitimized platform, and certainly doesn’t belong in any conversation about how Google tech should be applied to the world.”
Google's AI is being used across the world. One of the cons is facial recognition and Machine learning that can predict a persons past based on basic data and interpret whether the person has altered their identity from their biological sex. If we have this homophobic and transphobic person in the AI Council, it can cause so more damage to the future of our community.
Especially in transphobic and homophobic countries, government officials can use AI to determine whether a person has undergone surgery or even predict with medical records and social data to identify if someone if pretending to be straight. They can arrest a person and detain them for just for being trans or gnc or gay.
The pressure on Google, which had yet to respond to the initial backlash, mounted over last weekend when Carnegie Mellon Professor Alessandro Acquisti stepped down on Saturday, writing on Twitter, “While I’m devoted to research grappling with key ethical issues of fairness, rights, and inclusion in AI, I don’t believe this is the right forum for me to engage in this important work.” By the beginning of this week, thousands of Googlers had signed a petition asking for James’ removal from the board.
SAY NO TO Kay Coles James. She doesn't deserve to be in such boards. Please feel free to share.
GOOGLE do the right thing !!
