Why Goodwill?

LinkedIn sometimes does not like my articles about the Gilgit-Baltistan Goodwill Movement (GBGM). LinkedIn sees it as a low impression turnout, and I am trying to understand why. One possible reason is that disabled people are not really superheroes or victims, as the media often portrays us to be.
My name is Ghulam Muhammad Baig. I graduated with a BA Hons in Politics and International Relations from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow
As a disabled immigrant from Pakistan to the UK, it has been challenging to adjust to a new country. Not only did I face a language barrier, but I also had to adapt to a society where inclusiveness is enshrined in law (though the UK has an unwritten constitution).
Despite these challenges, I have remained committed to advocating for marginalized communities and promoting the Goodwill movement in Gilgit-Baltistan, gilgit baltistan's goodwill movement gbgm .
I not only chose this path because I am disabled, but I had a social conscience. Pakistan is where we come from. Multiple problems are there within the state. However, these problems are less common in Gilgit Baltistan.
Being one of the most educated provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan is renowned for its high literacy rates and educational achievements. Many young people from the region pursue higher education both within Pakistan and abroad, contributing to a well-educated populace.
However, this educational progress has not translated into inclusive policies and practices for disabled individuals in this society.
The critical issues found in Gilgit Baltistan are a Lack of Accessibility:Public spaces, primary higher educational institutions, and workplaces in Gilgit-Baltistan often lack the necessary infrastructure to accommodate disabled individuals. This includes ramps, elevators, accessible toilets, and other facilities that are essential for ensuring mobility and independence.
Limited Educational Opportunities:While general education levels are high, educational opportunities for disabled individuals are limited. Special education programs and inclusive education initiatives are either insufficient or nonexistent, and they are only at the primary level. This results in many disabled children being excluded from mainstream education.

Employment Discrimination:Disabled individuals in Gilgit-Baltistan face significant barriers in the job market. Discrimination and a lack of understanding about the capabilities of disabled people prevent many from securing meaningful employment. Employers often overlook the potential contributions of disabled individuals, leading to high unemployment rates within this community
Social Stigma:Deep-rooted social stigmas and misconceptions about disability persist in the region. Disabled individuals are often viewed through a lens of pity or as burdens rather than as equal members of society with rights and potential. This stigma can lead to isolation and marginalization.
Insufficient Government Support:Government policies and support systems for disabled individuals in Gilgit-Baltistan are inadequate. There is a lack of comprehensive disability legislation, and existing policies are poorly implemented. Social security measures and financial assistance for disabled individuals and their families are often insufficient.
These factors contribute a lot to what we do: help train people with disabilities in different skills. We train individuals in various skills, such as IT, English, and vocational fields like music and LED bulb making, free of cost
