Why The Future of Work Will Be Seized By The Opportunist
Workers who are dynamic opportunists will thrive in the Future of Work.
Work doesn't only happen within the concrete walls of an organization.
It doesn't matter whether you're generalist or specialist. Act as an opportunist by selecting roles, jobs, or opportunities that align with your skill set, strengths, and what you, as a worker, want to learn.
People who act as opportunists will thrive in an ambiguous future. I've noticed that the opportunists I know have an adaptive gene and creator mentality about them.
Keyword: Adaptive.
They never stop learning and enjoy building things from scratch. They pursue opportunities that allow them to create impact, learn, and leverage their gifts/strengths.
Aside from embracing a growth mindset culture, we need to encourage the next generation to think like opportunists.
Opportunistic thinking requires you to identify and pursue opportunities that teach you something, yet still align with what you're GREAT at.
Opportunists thrive in the gray area and adapt on the fly, it doesn't matter if they are generalists or specialists.
Adaptability is the most essential skill to have as we push into the Future of Work. The Future of Work will be seized by the opportunist, not the generalist or specialist.

5 å¹´These are amazing blogs. Question, what is your advice for opportunists being immersed into work that reflects only a little of their true strengths. What advice would you give someone in that situation.
