Why Focusing on People Over Profits Leads to Greater Success (and Happiness)

When I tell people I don’t include monetary goals in my business plan, it often stops them in their tracks. How can a real estate professional, leading Patriot Home Group and affiliating with SERHANT., not prioritize revenue targets? The answer lies not just in my business philosophy but also in my DISC profile—a tool that’s helped me understand my strengths and what drives my decision-making.

The Influence of My DISC Profile

As a DI (Dominant/Influencer) personality, I thrive on taking bold action, connecting with others, and focusing on big-picture goals. I’m visionary by nature, and I prefer to measure success in ways that align with my passion and purpose rather than rigid metrics.

This explains why my business is built around impact and relationships. For me, it’s not about the numbers on a spreadsheet; it’s about the lives I touch, the trust I build, and the legacy I create within my community.

Leading with Impact

I’ve always believed that if you focus on providing value, the money will follow. That’s why my priorities for 2025 aren’t about hitting a specific revenue number but about building a strong brand, creating high-value content, and connecting with people in meaningful ways.

As someone who relocated to Tampa, I understand the questions buyers and sellers have about the area. This perspective drives my video content strategy. I produce community-focused videos that go beyond real estate listings—they help people understand the neighborhoods, schools, amenities, and lifestyles Tampa offers.

This approach is deeply tied to my Influencer traits. I love engaging with people, sharing stories, and providing information that empowers them to make confident decisions. My content is a direct extension of that.

In-Person Branding with Purpose

Offline, I lean on my Dominant side, taking bold, memorable steps to reinforce my presence. A great example is the SERHANT.-wrapped Corvette I use at events. It’s not just a car; it’s a mobile billboard and conversation starter.

The first time someone sees it, they’re curious. The second time, they associate it with me. By the third, it’s a mental shortcut: Corvette equals Robert equals real estate. This branding strategy reflects my willingness to take calculated risks and think outside the box—hallmarks of a DI personality.

Building the Right Team

My DISC profile also influences how I build and lead my team. As a high-D, I value efficiency and results, but my Influencer side ensures I do it in a way that prioritizes relationships and individual growth.

When hiring, I don’t look for people who focus solely on money. Instead, I ask, “In a perfect world, where do you see yourself and your real estate career in a year from now?” If their answer is about helping families or building community relationships, I know they’re aligned with our mission.

From there, I identify their strengths and areas for improvement. This customized approach taps into my natural inclination to inspire and mentor, creating a team that’s motivated and capable.

My Challenge to You

As we move into 2025, I challenge you to think about what drives your success. Is it purely financial, or does it go deeper? Understanding my DISC profile has helped me align my goals with my personality, allowing me to build a business that feels authentic and fulfilling.

I encourage you to explore your own motivators and use them to create a vision for success that truly resonates with you. You might find, as I have, that focusing on impact and relationships leads to greater happiness, less stress, and yes, even more financial success.

Let’s redefine what success looks like in 2025.
