Why first page matters most in your resume?
Resume is a marketing tool , which is the summary of your qualifications that can win an interview or a job (depending on the position you are applying). A resume is a tool that can persuade the prospective employer that you are the candidate who is going to be the perfect one for the company’s need and thus your resume should be written in a way that you can convince him. The recruiter had to skim through your resume in a short amount of time and that is why it needs to be precise to the point and informative too so as to ensure that he/she should get a very clear idea of what the job is all about.
Therefore, it makes sense to have the first page especially concise and highlights all your most important points. Here is where we include Professional Summary (that give one or two liner about your competencies and what makes you stand out). The first page is also where we include a section for our key skills and competencies.
That is why I do not suggest including things like your date of birth, marital status, IC number, and full address in the resume. This would take up a lot of space where you may be able to use for more qualitative information that makes you a better candidate for the job.
Before writing a CV you need to ask yourself what you as an individual have to offer to the job or business? You must begin with an analysis of your skills and the areas in which you are competent. However, you must include your contact details in your first page (in fact, in all the pages ) so that it would be easier for the employer to contact you.
