Why Faster Speed to Market is so important in 2020

A huge amount has changed in the world over the past decade and its almost certain that the next ten years will hold an equal amount of innovation, growth and increases in customer expectations.

We often find ourselves talking about the customer-facing technology developments when looking back at milestones of change, however the supply and delivery originating in the manufacturing sector is of equal importance. This is especially so in the Plastic Injection Molding area of the industry where it must match the fast-paced growth in Automotive development etc.

According to the 2016 IndustryWeek report “Future of Manufacturing: 2020 and Beyond”, the importance of technology advancements to future business performance within the sector itself has never been higher. A survey quoted in the report stated that Quality management systems and Lean manufacturing systems are the most heavily invested areas of tech as both are deemed essential in the speed and consistency of production. Things we know are critical to remain competitive.

While the world around us gathers ever more pace, and the demands of customers grow, the manufacturers, eager to deliver on-time and ever more quickly, must, in parallel ensure they don’t disappoint. But is it all about the technology?

Marc Amerlaan, Managing Director of ADIS Tachov s.r.o, believes that:

“Listening carefully to customer demands is actually the key to speed of delivery."

He continued “that may sound a little odd at first, but once you have optimised your production using Lean Manufacturing techniques in the way we have here at ADIS, in reality there is then very little difference in speed of the production itself. The next clever gain in terms of speed to market then comes from getting a true understanding of what needs to be delivered. If you do this very precisely, and then create accurate prototypes to match that request, it eliminates miscommunicated expectations and results in faster overall turnaround".

"The added bonus is that it also results in great customer satisfaction!”

Face to Face meeting. Listening carefully is key to success.

The irony then, as we enter a new decade that is sure to be stacked high with next-generation thinking, a world of artificial intelligence, technology and robots, is that a fundamental human element still holds the key to growth - ‘listening carefully’.
