Why Failing is Like Farting...
Addressing Penn Engineering Undergraduates at their 2018 Commencement

Why Failing is Like Farting...

I was honored to be asked to give the commencement address to the Undergraduates of Penn Engineering this year. It was a fantastic way to end my first year teaching at Penn. I hope you enjoy this speech as much as I enjoyed writing it. Not to spoil it too much, but everyone's favorite line in it is the title.. you will have to watch it to see why.

Several parents and undergraduates have reached out to me via Linkedin, asking for a transcript - there's a website link in the description part of the YouTube video on how to get one.

Enjoy!

Thank you Vanessa for sharing your inspiration. I love your metaphor of the unlit path - scary yet rewarding and worthwhile. Well done

Awesome! I played this for my boys (10 and 12) and they clapped with wild enthusiasm at the conclusion! Thanks for sharing this!
