Why not extend your time frame?

How do you measure success? And how long do you wait for results??

Sometimes, when implementing a new business development strategy, the time frame that you set ends up being far too short.??

You want to see results as quickly as possible, and that may end up meaning:?

  • Not enough detail: the outcomes are inconclusive as they weren’t given time to develop.
  • Disappointment: not meeting the set deadline with the work required, causing frustration.

A simple way to avoid this is by lengthening your time frame. Chatting it through and focusing on taking those “baby steps” that build up to a fully realised and comprehensive project.??

Delaying that gratification can be harder to agree with colleagues and management, but the results are difficult to beat.?

“A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”?
- Greek Proverb.

Extending project time frames indeed poses challenges, and effective communication is key. In your experience, when navigating this scenario, do you provide insights in your strategies for communicating the benefits of lengthening time frames to stakeholders, and how have these strategies contributed to successful project outcomes?
