If there’s one trait that’s imperative for exponential leadership it’s depth of vision. The ability to ‘sense’ what’s coming next is probably one of the most essential ability that can help your leadership brand propel and resonate through the decades. And that’s especially true during exponential times. However, for leaders to truly develop this sense of what’s about to come they need to scan the world for signs of change. They need to develop their skills of being able to react instantaneously. And to be able to do all this, leaders need to transform themselves into learner-centered leaders.
Learner-centered leaders have an uncanny ability of finding connections between people and concepts where others can see no possible link. It’s about channeling your informed perspectives to anticipate what will come next and how to direct it towards future success.
So what does it take to transform ourselves into learner-centered leaders to can intuitively and preemptively see what’s coming next? Here are a few tips.
The Learning Never Ends
No matter what the outcome of your action (whether it’s success or failure), there’s always an opportunity to learn. Being observant, patiently watchful and open-minded is key here. Have a mindset that embraces the shifting times and trends. Find out about things and stay up to date with information. Stay connected with people who can really provide you useful and insightful information. Treat every opportunity, interaction and information as a learning opportunity.
Sense Your Surroundings
Based on the knowledge you’ve gained and the information you’ve accessed personalize it all and use it. Sensing is how you use all this information, knowledge and learning and transfer it into our actions and practices. It’s the ability to use your critical thinking to intertwine your thoughts, impressions, feelings, intuition and experiences to make sense out of them.
Sharing Your Learnings
Learning-centered leaders are well aware that to really make a change and be ready for exponential times they need learning-centered people around them as well. The knowledge that you’ve gained must be exchanged, ideas bounced back and forth, concepts flying through the roof and debates the norm. This is the only way innovation can be birthed. It’s the only way exponential growth can be a reality.
Learning-centered leaders aren’t about having plain, old-school and traditional vision – they have insights and the ability to seek things that will happen, way before they actually do. As learning-centered leaders alter their mindset to embrace this notion, they’ll transform their leadership into an institution where opportunities are availed by everyone who interacts with them.
