"Why Every Trick-or-Treater Deserves a Treat, No Matter Their Age or Costume!"

Halloween is a time for ghostly giggles, spooky decorations, and fun-sized treats. But as we prep our doorsteps for candy duty, let's remember that every trick-or-treater who comes by deserves a warm welcome, whether they follow Halloween "rules" or not.
Some kids might not say “trick or treat.” They may stand shyly, eagerly, or just silently, hoping for that candy handout. For some, saying those three little words might be challenging, perhaps due to social anxiety, sensory sensitivities, or even developmental differences. Let's be the kind of neighbors who hand out candy with open hearts, not rigid expectations.
And yes, you might spot a few towering "kids" at your doorstep...aka teens. Sure, they're taller than your pumpkins, but don't turn them away. Imagine the world teens navigate today, filled with pressures and expectations to "grow up" quickly. Maybe tonight, they're taking a much-needed break to enjoy the innocent fun of Halloween. So, drop that Snickers in their pillowcase, and celebrate their choice to embrace some of that good old-fashioned Halloween spirit.
Halloween has evolved, and it’s okay that the rules are shifting. We might remember our own Halloweens and feel tempted to compare, but the reality is we don’t know where each trick-or-treater is in life. Let’s be a community that embraces every single one of them, from toddlers to teens, with spooky kindness and understanding.
After all, Halloween is about joy, connection, and a little bit of mystery. And who knows, by opening our doors and our hearts, we might make this Halloween a little more magical for every goblin, ghost, and gangly teen who stops by. Happy haunting!
