Why entrepreneurs need failure to succeed

Why entrepreneurs need failure to succeed

Failure - how can a word be so scary, right? However, throughout my life I have come to realise that, although it sounds a bit cliché, failures are part of life and we can learn a lot from them. I don't think failure is the key to success, as many believe, but I do think it is a very important part of it. And failure means not to lose everything - we have failures every day, every week, every month: a wrong decision or the wrong way to talk to other people or something we postpone all the time… All that behaviours can lead to failure - in different nuances.?

#1 Failure is an opportunity for a fresh start

As Henry Ford said, "failure is a great opportunity to start again with more intelligence", and in the end, that's the truth, isn't it? We tend to think that when something goes wrong, especially in business terms, it is the end of the world and it is the worst thing that can happen to us and, let's not fool ourselves, it is a bit demotivating, but in the long term it is something that teaches us, that gives us experience for the future.

In order to grow and improve, it is very important to fail. The key is to learn from it and improve so that it doesn't happen again.

#2 Failure is not personal

There are two types of entrepreneurs: those who take failure personally and see it as a permanent situation, and those who see it as a lesson and a simple setback.?

It is normal to feel defeated when something does not go as planned. Let's be honest, it has happened to everyone at some point and it is not a pleasant feeling. However, how you respond and how you adapt to failure will determine how successful you will be in life.

#3 Failure drives you to reach your full potential

Success at the first attempt is, to say the least, a marvel, but it does not generate analysis. However, when we fail we become smarter: the mistake allows us to analyse the situation and learn from it, we develop a greater capacity for learning, memory and, in addition, it motivates us to continue learning.

Failure is a natural part of business and life. So, if you are in business, don't let these little setbacks stop you and distract you from your ultimate goal. Always keep in mind that the goal is the only thing that is fixed, methods and processes are flexible. Adapt and move on.

We all stumble, what sets us apart is the ability to get up and keep going. And that should be the maxim of every entrepreneur.

My favorite point above is #3 - that it allows for analysis and becoming smarter. If we chose to allow ourselves to learn from the failure. Thank you for sharing.

Failing should indeed be seen as a necessary evil of the process - In my experience having an ultimate vision / north star helps in dealing with setbacks!
