HR team plays a huge role in communicating with employees and they are the voice and reason for employees and organizational change. Either based on bad experiences with previous HR teams or some logical reasons, employees hate Human Resources on some level. Unfortunately, bad HR managers are everywhere and in some cases employees do come across great HR departments. In order to understand the situation, let’s see some common reasons from employee’s perspective.
? HR has only the Management’s interests in mind:
HR is often portrayed as that “employee-friendly” department but often employees see HR as someone who places bosses first and employees at the last.
How you can turn this situation around:
· Instead- Focus on increasing employee engagement
HR can focus on long-term plans of the entire employee journey, such as:
1. Developing training programs for employees to reach their full potential
2. Creating competitive compensation
3. Developing methods to reward and retain hard working employees
? HR is not objective and fair
Unfortunately, many HR staffs fail to acknowledge a legitimate employee perspective because the HR rep wants to keep their job, earn a bigger paycheck, or get that next promotion.
How you can turn this situation around:
· Instead- Focus on the people
To succeed, HR should spend more time with employees and if the management passes down orders that are clearly unhealthy to employees such as salary and benefit cuts; HR should re-evaluate the revised policy and prepare to advocate on behalf of the staff. Hence, employees simply want their HR to be fair and stand for employees.
Despite the negative beliefs that HR has gained over the past decades, it still can change for the best. By focusing on people, increasing its core competencies, and using technology to simplify its processes, HR will eventually earn the respect and support from employees.
