Why is electrifying a shelf rack not always a good idea?
For some years now, systems have been presented in the furniture sector for powering the lighting fixtures positioned in the movable shelves, electrifying the rack or the vertical metal profiles; all these systems are based on low-voltage conduction lines that run along the entire height of the upright, to which the shelf supports are connected.
The furnishing companies, which propose these solutions, while making use of certified components supplied by companies specialized in the production of lighting fixtures, should, in turn, carry out a certification of the load and protection characteristics of the finished element; as if the whole supplied constituted a system in itself or a real lamp.
These types of installations can in fact involve numerous risks even when the shelves are correctly insulated, which unfortunately often does not happen. The connection made in such a way as to allow the shelves to be attached and detached from the voltage line can in any case cause false contacts or even cause very dangerous phenomena such as electric arcing.
Indeed, even if the process is low voltage, this does not exclude out-of-control amperages because there are risk factors to which these plants could be exposed, such as humidity and electromagnetic fields.
It would be worth considering the opportunity to make use exclusively of the solutions proposed by companies certified in the supply of lighting fixtures, capable of supplying the equipped wall, prepared with the appropriate protections.
However, I believe having electrified lines, even if in low voltage, which descend from a height of about 2 and a half meters almost to the ground, is not exactly a good idea.

One of the most insidious problems for these plants, as already mentioned, is the electric arc. This phenomenon consists of an electric discharge that brings into play a very high power in a very short time. You may have seen an example of this when you unplug a power strip.
Taking risks of this type for lamps positioned on height-adjustable shelves may therefore not be exactly a good idea!
Is it possible to achieve the same result with different solutions?
