Why eCommerce brand owners MUST utilize SMS Marketing in 2021 and beyond.

At the time, a 6000%+ ROI seemed mind-blowing.

In fact, it still does.

However - it has since become clear to me that such returns are not uncommon.

And it shouldn't be of a surprise.

Today, SMS is said to be the FASTEST GROWING marketing channel for brands across the globe.

49% of consumers have said that they are on the SMS mailing list of their favourite eCommerce brand.

In a world where most people spend HOURS of the day on their phone, (nearly five and a half hours for the average American) - using SMS as a way to connect with customers just makes sense.

I myself spend far too long on my phone on a daily basis - and when I hear that patented iPhone SMS notification noise - I check it without hesitation.

This is where SMS sees its success.

With up to 98% open rates (as opposed to the sub 25% email industry benchmark), brands can rest assured knowing that it is highly likely that whatever message they are trying to convey to their audience will be read.

Whether it's a new product drop, an abandoned cart sequence, or an update to customers, SMS provides a simple yet highly effective means of communication that drives up to eight times higher engagement than email.

In using SMS, character count limitations mean that the message you are looking at conveying to your audience must be condensed.

This is in contrast to email marketing, in which one can experiment with long-form copy, design variables - and so on.

It can be said, with this in mind - that SMS is the yin to Email's yang.

When both are paired and used effectively, success will undoubtedly follow.

As the average attention span of humans continues to fall, eCommerce brand owners MUST explore ways in which they can effectively engage with their customers in the shortest amount of time possible.

Looking for a means of communicating an informative, detailed message to your customers? Use email.

Looking to be convenient and straight to the point? Use SMS.
