Why Don't We Always Go for the?Win?

Remember how competitive kids are? ??
They won’t play easy on you and they won’t let you win without a fight. ????
Not a literal one at least. ??
It’s in our instinct to want to win. ??
Why wouldn’t we want to win? ??
Sure, we can find a reason why winning might not be good if we really want to look for one. ??
What if we’re going to be “too successful”? ??
What if we’re going to have to raise our standards all the time? ??
What if we’re going to be given more responsibility? ??
Phew, that sounds challenging, doesn’t it? ??
Well, that’s the point. ??
Some people are even afraid to give it their all because what if they actually win? ??
What if you get exactly what you want? ??
You might think “well I’d like to have that problem”. ??
Sounds great on paper, doesn’t it? ??
But if we look at most of our actions we rarely risk winning over safety. ??
Is there really anything we can’t win at? ??
It might definitely take some time but if you don’t want badly to win, what are the chances to take massive action and move toward winning? ??
Let’s look at this example.
If you give yourself 30 days vs 1 day to finish a project, what are the chances that your 1-day deadline will make you so competitive that you’d dwarf your other version of yourself? ??
Since we don’t know how much we’ll live, it’s easy to never go full out because there’s always a next day, but will there always be a next day? ??
Playing it safe might be ok, but we aren’t being chased by lions in the wild anymore. The only risk we have now is possibly risking our time and money but if we want to win in the areas of our life we cherish the most, is there really any way to “lose” as long as we’re progressing? ??
We never lose unless we believe we did. Isn’t it true that we can always learn something after “not winning”? ??
We’ll rarely feel bad for not winning compared to how we’ll feel for not trying, even though we knew we could’ve done more. ??
No one said “I regret learning from my past mistakes”. If that’s the case, is there really any reason to play it safe in a world full of opportunity that is always waiting for us? ??
