I hear all the time from pet owners that their dogs are smarter than most people they meet.

Conversely, I also hear all the time that people's bosses are NOT smarter than most people they meet.

There has to be a reason for this discrepancy. I set off to find the answer. Luckily, it wasn't too hard to observe.

Here are the top 10 reasons why your dog is smarter than your boss:

1. Dogs make you get up at 4 AM and not complain.
2. Dogs make sure you walk around the block every day whereas your boss is happy with you staying in your cubicle. Exercise yields happiness.
3. Dogs can sleep all day while you work, and you still love them them.
4. When dogs look at you in a demanding way, you jump.
5. Dogs make all kinds of noise, and you always try to figure out what they're trying to tell you - whereas you're fine with tuning out your boss.
6. Dogs can learn new tricks...
7. You're still proud of the dog when they don't perform their new tricks.
8. Your dog is on your mind while you're at work, but work is not on your mind while you're with your dog.
9. When dogs crap all over the place, you want to clean it up.
