Why Doesn't T.E.D Talk

Why Doesn't T.E.D Talk

Leaders have a wealth of sharp & practical insights thanks to experiences built with long tenures within & outside the organization through business & industry highs & lows & an outside-in visibility that the middle & front layers of organizations do not possess. So it is a natural progression for them to share their perspective & create unlocks for their people. When leaders have a teachable point of view & where the learning systems' north-star is leader as teacher, capability ramp up is rapid & agile.

I have learnt that while external experts bring in best-in-class thinking, the right models & frameworks & category best practices to the table, the context that comes from the business leader is unique & unparalleled in impact. When an internal leader stands up to facilitate, people are actively engaged, they take notes & they internalize content.Having traversed the path, leaders know where the pitfalls lie & can illuminate dark corners.

Any standard MBA will cover a course on Strategy for example but 'Strategic Thinking' for the business can only be taught by him who hold the binoculars & steers the ship. Similarly, the personal in 'Personal Accountability' is put by a leader who's face you see everyday or every other day, who your admire & respect. Influencing & negotiation is best facilitated by him who cracks the best deals for the business, not only creating win/win for the business & the partners/vendors but maximizes value to create wins even for unrepresented parties through a win/win/win.

In personal development, teams are vulnerable with leaders who are vulnerable first, baring their struggles & below the line behaviors. Authentic stories of Executive Courage come from somebody who has taken a few punts in the business & lived to tell the tale & better still, has a few battle scars to show for it. The Young Turks of today are competent, energetic & motivated, all they need is the right directional input for breakthroughs to happen & for this, The.Enlightened.Director must talk.
