Why does my recruiter ask so many questions?

Hi there Job Seeker,
How many times have you received a call from a recruiter and thought to yourself, "I have no idea why this guy just keeps asking so many questions! I don't even know if he has a job to discuss or if he is just fishing around to get my info and ghost me. Does he not even realize how many calls I get every day or even value my time?".
Yep. We have all been there, my friend. Important disclosure: I am a recruiter! Now wait, wait, wait! Don't leave me yet; just keep reading.
The short answer to your question is this: Just like you don't know what we have to offer you, we have no idea either! Until, of course, we get to know you! If a recruiter calls you and wants to have a real conversation with you, you have found a recruiter who values your time and will save you so much time later!
A recruiter who isn't worth your time will just want a yes or no, gives you the take it or leave it attitude, or wastes 30 minutes of running down the qualifications to find out they can't offer you the pay you want, they can't wait for you to renew your license, or can't offer you the schedule that fits our need... What a bummer!

Now that I have presented you with a valid reason... let me give you a challenge! The next time you receive a call where a recruiter wants to serve you and get to know you, do the same! Ask the recruiter what you want to know about their company, and more importantly... them! Find out if they like to give out their personal cell number, if they are going to be easier to talk to when you text/email/schedule first, if they will be someone you can call at odd hours to discuss issues or future plans.
Remember this, you get to choose who you talk to, where you want to work, and on what terms. Discuss your needs with your recruiter. Need someone who is going to text you a reminder to turn in your time sheet? Need someone who will only contact you after 3:30 but before 6? Need someone who will check in with you only on a weekly basis? Tell THEM what works best for YOU!
Believe it or not, you are not just a number to the recruiter who calls you to talk about your experiences, licenses you have had in the past and currently hold, plans for travel or relocation, your family and home structure, or even what kind of pets need your attention! This recruiter is looking out for your best interests and will become a fabulous recourse for YOU, just as much as they will benefit from you choosing to work with them. Fortunately for you in this matter, we recruiters do not get paid for phone time... We get paid when you go to an assignment, stay on assignment, and send your friends to us as well.
Thanks for reading and would love to invite you to send me a connection request, like and share this article, and/or tag a friend who may benefit from reading this article! Happy hunting!
