  1. Plastic Settlement is a traitor, making the concrete settle when it is still fresh. Imagine him as a villain who steals the foundations of buildings when they are still young and unsuspecting.
  2. Plastic Shrinkage is like a malicious imp that steals water from the concrete, causing cracks.
  3. Early Thermal Contraction is like a character who steals the heat, causing cracks as the concrete gets colder.
  4. Long-term Drying Shrinkage is the rogue causing cracks due to the loss of water over time.
  5. Crazing is the scoundrel drawing fine cracks on the surface of concrete, making it look aging.
  6. Corrosion of Reinforcement is the villain attacking the metal elements in concrete that are supposed to strengthen it.
  7. Alkali-Silica Reaction is the mage causing cracks through mysterious chemical reactions.

How to Fight These Villains?

Pressure Injection is our superhero in this battle. Using various tools such as two-component polyurethane and epoxy resin, it can defeat these villains.

  • For plastic settlement, plastic shrinkage, and early thermal contraction, two-component polyurethane is ideal because it is flexible and can fill cracks.
  • For long-term drying shrinkage, crazing, and corrosion of reinforcement, epoxy resin is a better choice as it is stronger and more durable, effectively sealing the cracks.

Hmmm, you reminded me of this saying: "If duct tape don't do the job, use more duct tape". I see crack injections as one of the solutions when you want to quickly fix an issue, but not a permanent solution. When concrete cracks, you have a problem either in the structure, within the concrete itself, or due to external attacks (Chemicals, Freeze-Thaw, hot-cold face, loading, etc). You need to properly investigate the causes then address them before you inject, which to me is like a band-aid. Well, that's my opinion and I have nothing against injection systems as I have used them on my projects after investigating.
