WHY DOCTORS TO BE SKILLED PROFESSIONALS?

In the past Doctors are credited to be most top ranked citizens and no second thoughts about judging their competence, Our Medical colleges were icons of excellence. In the last 3o years the Medical education suffered major setbacks due to lack of up gradation of teacher talents and skills and above all the poor state of maintenance, major reason being lack of funding in Medical colleges. Politicians meddling on many matters with least encouragement to really sincere doctors, However India has greatly compensated with upcoming of National Institutes of excellence with more encouragement to many skilled Doctors, this is how India made world class specialists and super specialists are available for services in most of the modern diseases. Now India is going to face with production of quantity of doctors with least skills, as an MBBS junior doctor, has few skills to demonstrate, many patients suffer the inefficiency of the less skilled doctors at the golden hour in emergency, It is certain It’s very difficult to assess a doctor’s true skill or performance, How do you really know if your doctor, surgeon or hospital is good, bad or somewhere in between? Whatever the best Interviews done by Professionals and HRD departments, we cannot judge the person's capabilities it’s easy to be fooled by a doctor’s reputation or the elegance of a waiting room. It’s very difficult to assess a doctor’s true skill or performance, the reality of this myth is that there is no simple way to assess a doctor’s skill or clinical outcomes. That’s why more and more patients are gravitating to large medical groups, which are filled with physicians who work closely with each other on a daily basis, observe each other’s work directly and evaluate their colleagues frequently I think this is the reason many corporate hospitals flourished in the Country under talented managements. This will certainly lead to individual popularity in the system as you find most talented and skilled in group practice and one may not practice alone in future, assigning rational priorities is an important professional and life skill. Collectively, we all waste an incalculable amount of time, energy and resources pursuing ventures that should be left for another day. All of us do this, as Teachers we train the students monotonously rarely inculcating teaching new skills Sometimes, we do so deliberately when a lower priority activity will deliver some pleasure or entertainment. In these instances, at least we are aware that we are dipping down on our priority list. As a Teacher I always say you all should be talented and should be able to demonstrate skills in time of crisis or emergency. Tomorrow’s doctor needs to be doing a much better job of dealing with today’s medical challenges, because they will all be still here tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. I realized that this trio really seems to be thinking about how medical education should be changed and improved. In which case, I think they should change their organization’s name to “Next Decade’s Doctor,” but I can see how that perhaps might not sound catchy enough. Rather, it’s that it slightly kills me that so much of this creativity and intelligence and innovation keeps leapfrogging over the very important — and very interesting — problems facing healthcare power users, and these are problems that we need to solve by tomorrow. Or the day after. Or maybe the year after, but really, if they don’t get meaningfully addressed within the next several years, we are going to have even worse problems than we have now. Tomorrow’s doctors need to have the skills to deal with today’s most pressing healthcare problems, as the condition like early detection of Cancers, because today’s problems — including helping people with multiple chronic diseases — are not going away any time soon.

Specific skills that we all need to develop as many life support systems as physicians include becoming comfortable with patients, with shared decision-making, with available resources on World Wide Web with continuously reviewing and revising our practices, with using technology, and with meaningfully collaborating with other clinicians. We also need to prepare ourselves to periodically substantially revise the way we deploy our skills in the service of the healthcare system. Doctors are some of the most respected individuals in the world, and if you have the desire to become a part of this field and these skills, you're well on your way to success. I wish the Indian medical curriculum should have included many skill based teachings should be incorporated to make better doctors for tomorrow. Dear Doctors never forget to think WHAT NEXT which alone keep you respected and employed in the Profession or else your choice ……..? Never forget your next employment depends on your skills and not just your Degrees or Specialty. The Medical Colleges and Institutes should strengthen the skills in teaching and make our students to be talented and competent in basic life supporting skills.
