Why do you work out? ???♀???

Do you move your body to feel and look stronger? I definitely do - amongst other things.
Appearance plays a part, but it’s not my main motivation to work out. The more you work out the more you get hooked, I believe, on the feel good chemicals, released from breaking a sweat or simply being fully present in your body.
Feeling fully present with our physical shape/body/vessel allows us to feel fully present in the here and now, period. And every time we are present, or even better, in flow, it’s a win.
But, butt ??, the look of said physical shape is important too. We race to pilates to notice our abs popping, lift weights for our glutes and biceps and boost our metabolism doing high intensity workouts.
With our net time to move our body being limited, many people choose strength training also known as resistance exercise - when muscles work against a weight or force in order to ultimately increase their strength - over let’s say: Yoga.
This is not to say doing Yoga, especially a regular, vigorous vinyasa practice won’t increase your strength. A plank is a plank after all. Yet, when it comes to building muscles and strength, strength training is more giving.
Yoga is important too though. Hear me out :)
The benefits of a yoga practice (any practice really: vinyasa, yin, hatha, your 30min on demand class) are so important in our modern day lives.
Yoga decreases levels of cortisol and stress, while increasing balance, flexibility and joint mobility. All major points for longevity.
The good news is, you need to do it less than you might think to reap all the benefits.

Studies suggest that Yoga even once a week and strength training twice weekly already support your health.
Practicing yoga regularly can actually optimize your strength training efforts as well. And vice versa, the stronger you become the better you can hold and flow through your poses, and safely attempt more advanced Yoga poses.
The sauce is in the combo ??
And why you workout, looks, endorphins, well, it’s really none of my business. I’m just glad you do.
And I’m here for you when you need that weekly Yoga fix.
Love,
Kathrin
