The likelihood is you will get asked this question in your job interview. So, how do you answer, “why do you want to work for this company?” Here, at paramount personnel, we have tips and advice on how to best answer this.
When you’re faced with this question during an interview the company wants you to demonstrate your interest in the position and knowledge of the company. So, it is vital that you research the company prior to the interview. What are the company’s values, and do they align with yours? Research the history of the company and where it may be going in the future. Do you admire its future goals? For example, you could answer this question by saying “I would like to work for this company as I can see you are working towards finding more sustainable approaches in the future. Being more environmentally aware is important to me and so I would like to be on board with helping the company make greener choices.”
As well as researching the company, it’s also vital you research the job role. How does the job description fit YOU? When answering “why do you want to work for this company?” list how you would fit into the role and the company. List your attributes and how they would fit the company’s work ethic. For example, you could answer the question by saying “I would like to work for this company as I work well under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced environment…”
You could also mention how your work experience would benefit the company. How would your previous work history and past jobs stack up against this one? For example, you could say “ I would be proud to work for such a highly regarded company like this one and I know how important it is to act appropriately representing the company. In my previous role at … I learned about what it was like to work for a well-known and respected company. I understood the importance of upholding their standards and reputation.”.
What to avoid saying!
We would advise avoiding answering the question by stating you are only interested in the position due to financial reasons. Or for the lengthy paid holiday! These reasons would not bring value to your prospective employer.
