Why do you use LinkedIn?
Scot Reedy
I produce vehicle wraps to help businesses advertise and market themselves. I also produce wedding and event printed graphics.
So why do you use LinkedIn? I see people on here everyday complaining about getting a sales pitch in their in box. Or people upset that someone shared something funny on the site instead of business related material. So it makes me wonder just why people join LinkedIn?
For me personally as a business owner I use it to build relationships with people in industries that could use my product. I work it to generate leads, and connect with decision makers in larger companies that are not always easy to get a hold of. I have been guilty of sending a message or two about myself and Paradise Graphix to a new connection. But I do this because I truly believe that my wraps and designs can benefit the person I am trying to reach.
When all of us signed up here I am sure the majority of us was trying to get connected to the right people to sell our product or service. So I think we all should set back and say why did I join this site?
You never know, if you reply back to the person who sent that sales pitch with your own sales pitch you may get a great client out of it. Or just maybe the individual will realize you don't need his or her service but his buddy with a different business could and he passes on your name.
Anyway about it using the site to get leads is what it's all about. Connecting people with each other so that each business can grow, share stories and articles with each other that could help them in their choice of profession. And if occasionally there is a funny post about a cat with laser eyes or someone asking for a prayer to be sent to a loved one in a tough time oh well. Laugh and cry with those people, they may be the one person holding the perfect account you have been searching for.
So my message is ENGAGE! Engage with each other on all levels share other people's articles funny pictures or anything that could help someone or brighten somebodys day. And you will see results. Don’t be negative and DO NOT COMMENT if you don't like it. People will remember the negative comments and they will not recommend you or your company to anyone.
So that's why I use LinkedIn why do you? post your comments below it will be great to see why others use it and how. ~ Scot Reedy

9 年Over the last many months, I ponder whether to stay in linkedin but there are 2 reasons I stay: 1) when I'm stuck on a question that I can't find any information on or need an opinion on a product or service, this resource has been a big help; and 2) it's my business roll-a-dex. I did start here to promote connections but I haven't found or figured it out for linkedin (with many different scenarios), so I gave up with trying. Hey Scot, thanks for asking!

9 年You're exactly right, Scott. I love LinkedIn for the great connections that are to be made. I can get better engagement when I write a blog post here that I can on my own blog. Not only that, but yesterday I learned a new way of starting a conversation with a prospective connection. When I tried it, they gave me definite buying signals.
