The REAL Dangers That Lurk In Your Comfort Zone! (And Why You Need A Transformation.)

What is the one thing that will most stand in the way of your transformation?
What is the opposite of transformation?
Surely, it is your comfort zone and stagnation.
Staying in your comfort zone will only keep you where you are. And if you stay where you are for long enough, you will stagnate. That's just a fact of life. Anything and everything that stays in one place will stagnate.
But what does stagnation actually mean for us as individuals, in reality? What are the symptoms, manifestations and results of stagnation? And how will these affect your ability to transform yourself, your progress, your business, or indeed your life to where you want them to be?
I just asked Google to define the word, "stagnation." It came back with two definitions,
"the state of not flowing or moving,"
and,
"lack of activity, growth, or development."
What kind of images or concepts do those definitions conjure into your mind?
For me, the thought of not flowing makes me think of a bottled-necked blockage; of being stifled, muted or muffled. It gives me horrible images of being chained to the floor, caged in a glass prison. I envisage a scenario where I see others - people I love, respect and admire - soaring up high, free like eagles, while I am imprisoned, like a canary, in my own limitations; or having my wings clipped and prevented from flying up high with those ones I love. It's the ultimate penalty that we can sentence ourselves to. And it is the result of allowing yourself to sit in your comfort zone.
You see, your comfort zone - and mine - is a prison. It's a prison of the worst kind. For it is a self-imposed prison. Only I can allow myself to go free from my comfort zone prison. And only you can allow yourself to go free from yours.
But the thing is, the longer we allow ourselves to stay in our comfort zones, the harder it will become to free ourselves. The uphill climb will become a vertical climb. Which will eventually turn into a beyond vertical climb; one where you are practically crawling upside down and gravity is no longer just pulling you down the wall, but off the wall and you're clinging on for dear life.

And the worst part of staying in your comfort zone? It's the regret, which leads to self-blaming (a kind of self-imposed guilt), which leads to self-loathing, which pulls you even deeper into the quagmire of self-doubt, limitation and mediocrity. Eventually, it becomes too easy to just stay there, because the fight has become too hard.
Dear God! Reading that back to myself makes me feel almost depressed! How about you? It's surely the direst of scenarios, wouldn't you agree?
So what is the opposite?
I also just asked Google to tell me the opposite of stagnation. It gave me words such as 'movement', 'boom', 'prosperity', 'surge', 'recovery', and 'progress'.
What images and concepts do those words conjure in your mind?
For me, they paint a picture of joyful growth; of truly living - instead of just existing; of flying free like an eagle; of having a life that I truly love. And when I look back over my life, I can do so with pride. "YES!" I exclaim while punching the air triumphantly, "I did it!"
Now, isn't that a much better scenario? Wouldn't you prefer that one than the previous story, of you sinking further into the quicksand of regret and stagnation; of being imprisoned in your own comfort zone?
But to get there requires work. Transformation requires work. It requires sacrifice. It requires investment - of money, energy, emotion, and time.
And all that work; those sacrifices and investments ARE worth every bit. The tougher the challenge, the sweeter the victory certainly will be!
And the best bit of all this is that you don't have to go it alone. (In fact, you're better off - you'll fair better - if you DON'T go it alone!)
Having a coach, mentor and/or trainer is the best resource you can give yourself to ensure your transformation is a success. There are many coaches out there. Each will focus on a different facet of transformation. And you can have more than one coach, mentor and/or trainer - one for each facet of your desired transformation. I truly recommend this, as it will exponentially boost your transformational journey.
And if part of your transformational journey includes evolving from a timid, nervous, anxious or fearful speaker/presenter to a confident, compelling speaker who commands their stage and gets the results they want, then let's you and I have a chat. For I can certainly aid and support that part of your transformation. It's not going to cost you anything, except for 20 minutes of your time to chat with me (I promise not to sell or pitch you - that's not me!) and all you need do is book a free virtual coffee/cuppa tea meeting with me via my calendar - at jaelex.com/one-to-one.
Do it now! I'm waiting to have that virtual coffee/cuppa tea with you and join your transformational journey!

1 年"The tougher the challenge, the sweeter the victory certainly will be!" That is so true! OMG I really loved the images you used of our self imposed prison. It's really like that. And we get to decide when to set ourselves free. But it's very hard to do it on our own. It really makes a big difference to have a coach (or more than one) by your side. ?
