Why do you need a key contacts program? Because we are all held accountable.....or will be.

Every single company, every single organization is one tweet away from a crisis. That is a fact in 2017.

The advocacy environment is noisier than ever before. Between digital ads, social media, pass thru calls, and oh-so-ineffective mass emails, organizations can barely hear themselves think, much less actually be heard over all the rest of the din and the clutter being created by everyone else. You have to make a choice: Do you want to make noise, or do you want to be heard?

Making noise is easy. It’s as simple as click and send, tweeting, liking or paying some outside group to dial up and pass calls which are rushed, over-scripted speeches to young staffers who will dutifully note your position on legislation. If that makes you feel good, great. If that gives you the opportunity to check a box and report to your board or boss that you gave it the “old college try”, good for you. If you think that is all you need, then stop reading right now.

Being heard is what matters. The data is overwhelmingly clear. Elected officials and their key staff members want to hear from your most authentic voices. They want to hear from valued messengers, individuals with existing relationships with ‘the boss’ or with themselves. Because those people are credible. Those people bring a perspective to the discussion that has a real impact on how they view these important issues.

Being heard is what matters, to you. That is because at some point, maybe not today, or next week, but at some point we are all held accountable for winning, or losing. For the success or the failure of our efforts. So, why not take the steps to win? Why not create an environment for winning by finding and deploying your best possible messengers?

Key contact programs work. They are effective. They are how successful organizations are rising above all the noise and clutter. And, that, is why the heck you need a key contact program. It’s about your winning vs losing. It is about your success vs failure. And it’s about your own accountability……

Nice read Chip....great perspective.
