Why Do Wise People Always Succeed? Because They Do These 3 Things…

I was listening to a message at 2:30 AM ?? this morning, and I felt the need to jot down and share a few lessons I’d learned because I know it would really help you in the coming years.

First I’ll tell you a story, then I’ll explain using the parable of the 10 Virgins from the Holy Bible. 

For those of you who are not conversant with this Bible story, I’ll share a part of the verse below so you understand better.

At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep………. 

I’ll quickly summarize what happened in the story.

You see, it took a long while but the bridegroom eventually arrived and all the virgins had to hurriedly come out to greet him.

As they prepared themselves to meet him, the foolish virgins realized that they didn’t have enough oil to keep their lamps burning, so they asked the wise virgins for some.

Imagine the response they got.

NO!!!! Because they only had enough oil for their own lamps.

They decided to go out to buy more oil for themselves, but by the time they got back, the bridegroom had already left with the wise virgins.

How sad!

Now let me share my lessons from this verse.

1. Be prepared: You never know when that opportunity will come so start preparing for it NOW. Take that course, start that business, get that mentor, get that degree. Just don’t miss that opportunity when you finally have it.
2. Follow people who are wiser than they are: Follow people that will guide and help you become a better version of yourself. If one of the foolish virgins was friends with one the wise virgins, she would have known to take extra oil along with her.
3. Don’t rely on your understanding alone, Seek the help of the Holy Spirit: Now this is the most important and my favorite lesson.

Listen, you might have all the knowledge, all the certificate, the connection, and money but still struggling to achieve anything and remain stagnant in life.

The 10 virgins each had lamps.

That on its own was a smart move, but having the lamp alone wasn’t enough. They needed to keep the lamp burning throughout their journey and the only way to make that happen was taking along extra oil.

How did the wise virgins know they needed to do this? …..

You guessed right, through the help of the Holy Spirit.

Success doesn’t come by chance, it takes preparation. The earlier you start, the faster you will rise
