Why do we write?
We all have heard about the theories of what sets an author on a journey to write, what motivates him, how and from where does he get the ideas and words and the articulation to put those together effortlessly into some great poetry, articles, blogs, stories and books. Some say that writing helps them to cope up with the painful experiences that they have gone through in the past or are going through every day in their lives, some say that they get to express themselves through their writing. For some, it is an effort through which they try to make a difference in this world and for others it is a way to escape, for a while to a whole new world of their own “DISNEY LAND”. Some use their writing abilities as a medium of emotional detox while others, through their writing, help themselves as well as others as a guide towards making the right decisions in their life predicaments. There are uncountable reasons for why one writes, and this list can be non-exhaustive. So, why does someone write? What is the point of this question at all? The whole point of this argument is that it can never be answered but only explored. This debate is never-ending.
Hence, through this space, I will try to do just the same. EXPLORE. I will try to address a few themes which, according to my experience are the touchstones to Writing.
Let us start from ground zero.

IMAGINATION AND GENESIS OF IDEAS
Every action starts through imagination. This title pretty much envelops all the areas which we are going to explore throughout this write-up. Whether we talk about the American business magnate Bill Gates and his ideas of coming up with Microsoft, the technology entrepreneur Elon Musk and his incredible Cyber Truck or an exceptional character like Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. All of these were originally tiny ideas that came into existence by the imagination of these great minds. It is however a strange feeling how a small idea if paired up with the right direction of thought can lead to exceptional achievements. So, let’s now delve into applying these imaginations and ideas to the next level.
THINKING AND THE TRAIL OF THOUGHTS
Now, what do we do about these imaginations and ideas? And how is it even possible for a small idea to lead to such big ventures? This is where thinking comes into play. Thinking transforms the ideas into plans and plans when further thought through can lead to their execution and finally fruition. We’ve all been through the situation several times in our lives where sometimes there’s an idea or a simple thought which leads to another one and so on and we find ourselves stuck in this continuous trail of thoughts for hours. Some may call it daydreaming, but this is the exact idea behind the accouchement of a story. You put these trails of thoughts into words and who knows, you might be ready with a quality story! People don’t only write because they want a fortune out of it, there are other reasons too. Some do it because they have a NEED TO WRITE to EXPRESS themselves. Here, by “need” we do not mean that they have a need to make money out of it but simply as a medium to express themselves. There are people who are not very vocal and good at expressing themselves through voice and feel the need to do it through words. Talking, for them doesn’t make any difference but the power of words does wonder. Remember how we talked about “escaping to our own Disney Land” and “detoxifying our emotions”? That’s the power writing has. It is unimaginably wonderful how J.K Rowling’s escape from the real world into her own imagination takes us all on a tour to a mystical experience through the series of “Harry Potter” books and movies and how the characters certainly become our exemplars and we even have devised a term to characterize the fans as Potter heads. And we all know how, by writing these books, Rowling finally came out of her miserable life which encumbered her into several years of chronic depression. Writing stories was just her way to disconnect herself from the pain that she was encountering in her real life. Little did she know that Harry Potter will become a go-to space for almost the entire world. GUYS THAT IS A REAL BIG DEAL! I am sure there are numerous other inspiring stories just like this one. Shakespeare used to express himself through his poetry. Charles Dickens, Oliver Twist, Nicolas Sparks, Chetan Bhagat and there are thousands who can be listed into this category. I also feel that there is nothing more intimate and romantic than displaying your love through your writings. It makes the person on the receiving end feel extremely special and as if he is on top of the world. It certainly does make me feel these ways! Words have such great emotional appeal and warmth attached to them that they have the potential to leave an in-transient, ever-lasting impression on the audience. And due to this attribute, many influencers and role models through their quotes, motivational books, life-inspiring stories and experiences try to make a difference in this world, share their knowledge, educate and enlighten especially those in need. The paramount result of writing is that it offers a sense of happiness, contentment and pleasure to the writer.
I chose to write about happiness in the end because according to me, it is all that matters. And that is why I write. To be happy. Every contradiction seems to fall in place when you are happy. Each one of us, at some point or the other, have dreamt of being a writer. And I believe that everyone should perhaps give those tiny imaginations and the trail of thoughts at least one shot. You never know what you might end up creating! There is no finite number to create Superheroes, right??After all, the quality of thinking depends on the model of your head and that is exactly what is reflected in your writing.
So, IMAGINE! THINK! WRITE! And most importantly, BE HAPPY AND SMILE! CHEERS!!!
