Why do we often fear judgements based on the perception of others?

We are all struggling every day, to cope with something or the other but we forget the reason why. The “reason why” becomes so unimportant and all we do is try to cope. One such thing is most prevalent amongst the young adults who are constantly seeking self-growth but tend to deviate based on the judgements of others.
Sometimes even because of the societal norms, the world’s trends, to an extent that they tend to forget their own identity, running behind something or rather trying to cope with something that isn’t even relevant. The negative, intransigent thoughts of not being “ ideal “ may make those minds a host for survival eventually affecting the entire mental stability that one tries to attend.
I have witnessed most of it as I started to develop both kinds of senses, positive and negative respectively but the question remains the same, why do we often fear judgements based on the perception of others, when it’s all about attaining internal peace, the tranquillity that we all are looking for.?
