Why do we measure vibration in the three axes?
Measuring one axis will not allow you to know the vibration's total magnitude in other directions.
As the machinery stiffness is not the same in the 3 directions, that’s why the machine vibration response to the forcing frequency will not be the same.
Noting that, different faults can occur (show high vibration) in different planes, and measuring only one axis will easily miss the fault.
Examples:
- Imbalance fault could be seen in the "Vertical Axis" depending on fan geometry.
- Misalignment fault could be seen in the "Axial Axis".

8 个月Aly Attia motion amplification is on novice stages. In the future, we will not measure the vibration in 3axis but the video will show collectively all axial, transversal, and torsional vibrations along with prescriptive maintenance/support stiffness suggestions using AI.
