Why do we keep New Year's Resolutions?
Hello there,
A very happy new year to you! Hope you have an amazing year :)
Let’s get into our update right away!
What’s popping this week:
Christopher Nolan’s version of Odyssey is in the making
Christopher Nolan has officially begun work on his next cinematic venture, The Odyssey. This adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek epic promises to be a groundbreaking spectacle, featuring an ensemble cast including Tom Holland, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron.
Production is set to kick off in early 2025, with Nolan writing and producing alongside his longtime collaborator and wife, Emma Thomas. The Odyssey, one of the most enduring works of literature, follows the Greek hero Odysseus on his treacherous journey home after the Trojan War—a tale that continues to captivate audiences centuries later.
In an interview with Variety, Tom Holland expressed his excitement about the project but admitted he’s still in the dark about the full scope of the film. “To be perfectly honest, I don’t really know what it’s about. I met with [Nolan], and it was awesome. He kind of loosely pitched what it is, and I’m sure when he’s ready, he’ll announce more details,” Holland shared.
AI technology making major changes to the Real Estate Industry
Just a few years ago, artificial intelligence (AI) was unfamiliar territory for many companies. Today, it has become an essential tool, transforming operations, enhancing productivity, and sparking innovation across industries; including real estate.
For businesses with physical spaces, AI is unlocking new ways to optimize real estate operations, cutting costs, and driving efficiencies. Whether managing office buildings, leasing retail spaces, or creating productive work environments, AI is enabling leaders to take a data-driven approach to rethink their strategies.
Leaders at JLL, a global commercial real estate and investment management firm, have embraced AI’s potential, developing a suite of advanced tools for tenants and investors alike. Tools like Blackbird allow executives to evaluate building sites remotely, combining aerial views with suitability data to make informed decisions without leaving the boardroom.
As AI evolves, it will continue to redefine how real estate is managed, from creating sustainable buildings to shaping dynamic work environments. Companies should begin by identifying their most pressing challenges, then explore where AI can deliver the greatest impact. The future of real estate is smarter, more sustainable, and powered by AI.
Why do we keep New Year's Resolutions?
As the new year begins, millions set resolutions in hopes of self-improvement, often with skepticism about their success. A recent Forbes Health survey reveals that while fitness remains a top goal, 36% of participants are prioritizing mental health, with 55% agreeing it should be as important as physical health.
The psychology behind resolutions is driven by the "fresh start effect," which motivates individuals to pursue new goals at the start of a new year, using this time as a reset. Goals also provide purpose and align with our intrinsic desire for personal growth, while triggering dopamine, the feel-good chemical, in the brain.
However, many resolutions fail due to "false hope syndrome" setting unrealistic goals that lead to frustration. Technology, despite its tools, can sometimes hinder success by creating unrealistic expectations or reinforcing negativity. To improve your chances of success, set SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound), focus on one change at a time, share your progress with others, and embrace setbacks as part of the process.
Ultimately, resolutions can be a great opportunity to improve, but with the right mindset and approach, any goal can be achieved throughout the year.
Taylor Swift and Hailey Bieber mentioned in Blake Lively’s complaint
Blake Lively is making some serious allegations in a new legal complaint, claiming that her It Ends with Us costar and director, Justin Baldoni, conspired to destroy her reputation. And, shockingly, Taylor Swift and Hailey Bieber are mentioned in the mix.
In the complaint, Lively accuses Baldoni and his team of using "social manipulation" to tarnish her image, going far beyond typical PR tactics. One of the most eyebrow-raising details? They reportedly discussed using controversies surrounding Taylor Swift and Hailey Bieber as part of their strategy. The document revealed that Baldoni's team considered using “the weaponization of feminism” as a way to discredit Lively, hinting that Swift and Bieber had been accused of similar tactics.
Baldoni's team reportedly considered leveraging controversies involving Taylor Swift and Hailey Bieber, who had allegedly been accused of using feminist rhetoric to manipulate situations or advance their own agendas. The idea was to associate Lively with similar accusations, which could damage her image by suggesting she was exploiting feminism in the same way.
Lively’s statement makes it clear: she’s not trying to damage anyone’s reputation in return but hopes her legal action exposes how these manipulative tactics harm people who speak out. While Baldoni's legal team calls these accusations "outrageous," the situation is definitely one to watch.

Meta’s next plan is to deploy millions of generative AI characters and have them pose as actual users on Facebook and Instagram.
If Meta does unleash millions of AI profiles on Facebook and IG, each with their own custom personality, focused on a certain topic and/or interest area, could that actually boost app usage and engagement
Meta’s looking to expand its opportunities for creators to make money from affiliate links in their Facebook posts, by making supported product links more prominent within Reels, videos, photos, and text posts.
