Why Do Strategic Planning in the Summer?

Why Do Strategic Planning in the Summer?

Not many landscape and green industry companies are taking the time to do strategic planning now. They think of it as a winter activity.

That's a mistake.

The year is nearly half over, and finishing strong through the second half of the year will determine your overall success—it will determine your profitability, client satisfaction and ultimate bench strength.

Moreover, your success in the first half of 2018 is determined by what you do in the summer and fall of this year.

Case in point: Outside Unlimited, a commercial maintenance firm in PA, run by Jim Yannie, has asked me to meet with their team this week. We will define their 2017 Finish Strong Strategy and their 2018 Continued Growth Strategy. To prepare, I surveyed their leadership and reviewed their strategic plan that we assembled last year.

Jim and his team have created an unfair competitive advantage!

This company is on fire, having swiftly built up to three branches with more to come. Their proactive approach, along with their absolute obsession to customer service, is what makes their competitors scared! Are your competitors scared of you?

Jeffrey's Breakthrough Question: Do you want to be a leader in your industry niche, and are you willing to do what it takes…even in the middle of the season?

Take Action: Schedule an off-site with your team to review your results to date, and to develop your go-forward plans that will give you a competitive advantage and rekindle your team's motivation!!
