Why Do Some Fall Away and Others Linger?

Certain celebrities have a moment in the sun. Others stay at the party too long. The woman who released a porno tape accidentally on purpose has received too much press for far too long.

She can call herself an influencer. Her family remains the worst legacy of The People Versus OJ Simpson. It is strange who endures and who does not. For a time, Amanda Peet was in too many movies. She had her moment. Shia Lebouef was all over 2008 and works sporadically now.

Taylor Kitsch was in a bunch of movies in 2012. Any since? I am not checking IMDB to find out. Some people are likeable and fall away. This isn't like Debra Winger who liked acting and did not like promoting movies.

She wanted to spend more time with her children. That is a reason Warren Beatty works so rarely. He did enough. Some performers have more success than others and work for a very long time.

It seems strange that Ronda Rousey was so big and fell off the map. She has an autobiography out now which might explain why she was everywhere and why she keeps a lower profile now.

There is an article to write about Pete Sampras. Believe it or not- there was a time when American male tennis players were the best in the world. You can't play forever, even if certain players like Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams played at a high level for many years.

Pete Sampras is not seen at Majors. It is nice seeing Billie Jean King in the audience. She is American royalty. John McEnroe is an announcer and also shows up. It would not be surprising to see Andre Agassi at the US Open. He had many great battles with Pete Sampras.

Another story, another article. I would have to research why he is enjoying a private life. Different people have different priorities. Marvelous Marvin Hagler retired after the Sugar Ray Leonard fight and moved to Italy.

He did enough and stayed out of the spotlight for the rest of his life. Ronda Rousey was fun in interviews. She was the kind of person I would want to meet. Not necessarily into MMA, she crossed over to the mainstream.

Her scene in Furious 7 is enjoyable. Makes you wonder why there weren't more roles. John Cena and Dwayne Johnson have parlayed careers to the point some may not know they were wrestlers.

She has done some wrestling. The UFC was not kind to her. Since I don't see her in other places which is where I noticed her- out of sight, out of mind. She was a bronze medal winner in Judo during the 2008 Olympics.

That reminds me- if you have college age children- have them take up uncommon sports. You have to be really good to receive a scholarship for football or basketball. There are scholarships for Archery which is also an Olympic sport and you might find out these less televised sports are really good for you.

That takes work. While some performers are showcased all the time- why isn't Maroon 5 on the nostalgia circuit?- others have a moment and probably remain interesting. You never know how long or short success will last.
