WHY DO MEN SAY THEY’RE SO BAD AT GOLF?

?????? ??? ????????? ?????, ????????? ??? ???? ??????????? ??????? ?? ???? ?????????? ??????? ?x??????? ?????????? ????????'? ?????? ?? ????? ??????????
I’ve spent a lot of time on the golf course and always been frustrated to hear men complaining about how bad they are at golf. I roll my eyes and think ‘why are you being so macho, is this for my benefit’, or is this ‘that’ guy on the football pitch that insists his strained hammy is the reason he didn’t score?
Well apparently not…… most men are bad at golf…………… because it’s an incredibly tough game.
Even the pros;
·?? Miss 40% of greens
· ?? Miss 50% of 8 foot putts
· ?? Miss 40% of fairways
· ?? Fail to get it up and down 40% of the time
There is literally no margin for error, if you return the club just half an inch higher, or miss the spot by an inch, the shot is going to be poor.
?????????? Considering some men think THIS is 8 inches ??????????
>——————————————————————————<
it’s not surprising there’s lots of poor shots!
The complexities continue because of the way the body is designed, there are so many moving parts to consider;
·?? Hips, turn, tilt, move from side to side, back to front and up and down
·?? Shoulders protract and retract through the swing
·?? Arms are constantly changing flex/radius
·?? Wrists go through a range of movements throughout the entire swing
·?? Legs change flex
·?? Torso/core also turns, twists and moves from side to side, back to front and up and down
·?? Arms change flex
·?? Lead shoulder moves through a huge range of motion
·?? Clubhead and hand path are on different planes, which also change throughout the swing
When these areas work properly you have a better chance of making a repeatable and bio-mechanically effective swing.
The term ‘dad dancing’ pops into my head and I wonder if more training on the dance floor could improve your swing?
Generally men are very competitive at sports and give their all, but to be great at golf it’s not about giving 110%. Sports like weightlifting or running, often the harder you try the better you perform, but golf doesn’t work like that. Practice, patience and persistence form part of the recipe for success and only nurturing a positive mindset will promote you from a good golfer to a great golfer.
And just remember those 3 P’s, after-all I’m sure that’s how many a man made his girlfriend into a wife.
So, we have a game that has little margin for error, requires a lot from our bodies and minds and all of this has to be done at maximum effort. It’s extraordinary that some pros are exceeding 115mph and the amateurs between 70 and 100mph.
It’s extraordinary as I’ve never seen my husband move that fast during a session with the ironing and I’m pretty sure there’s a few transferable skills …… shoulders, hips, precision, practice….
So to all the guys whom I rolled my eyes at and thought you were just being cavemen, I apologise, you really are bad at golf!
Transforming your world through place and space :)
