Why do Local Businesses Struggle with Digital Marketing?

We’ve seen how digital marketing can leverage a local business, so why is it that 36% of local businesses don’t have a website in 2023?

Is it because:

·?????? They don’t know how to build a website

·?????? They don’t believe a website is necessary

·?????? They don’t want to participate in the digital economy

There’s a reason there are two types of business owners: the stressed and overworked and the business owner working ON their business.

It comes down to one very important aspect of operations: digital marketing.

Here’s why:

Digital marketing gives local businesses leads. On average more than any other form of marketing.

Leads are oxygen.

They give a local business owner time to improve their:

·?????? Fulfillment

·?????? Systems

·?????? Customer Service

Digital marketing has the power to make a business owner go from technician to operator.

3 Reasons why local businesses struggle with digital marketing:

#1. Lack of Belief - Local businesses will post a few times in a month, get nothing from the posts, and decide that digital marketing doesn’t work for them.

Or maybe they shelled out $3,000 for a website and nothing came from it.

They’ve had some poor experience, got nothing from it, then decided it wasn’t for their business. Simply put, they don’t BELIEVE digital marketing will work for their business. However, this belief has only been accepted after the shortest experiment ever conducted.

A local business owner’s lack of belief in the power of digital marketing comes from inconsistency. They haven’t tested enough to even gather any sort of relevant or accurate feedback.

#2. Lack of Systems –This keeps a business owner from leveraging digital marketing.

Having a plan that utilizes systems is what effective digital marketing looks like. This means a schedule, a publishing cadence, and content strategy. Publishing content consistently requires discipline; make the habit easier by creating systems in your marketing strategy that remove barriers.

Business owners, can you honestly say you’ve sat down and written out what you’re going to publish for a whole month?

#3. Lack of Knowledge – There’s a lot to know about digital marketing.

Business owners use this as an excuse. If you want to publish content to effectively increase the number of leads for your business, you will figure out the game of digital marketing. Most business owners can’t afford not to.

The best way to gain insight?

Try. Publish. Experiment. Review feedback.

It’s not that digital marketing doesn’t work for local businesses.

What it really comes down to is the mindset behind the individual running the show.
