Why do I write Paris Mysteries?

To make you search for your passport.

Paris is a myriad of authentic mysteries. Every street inspires intrigue, every café, a romance. Throw in a spy or two, especially one who likes to read, and well…  Could any writer find a better venue for writing mystery series?

"Reading inspires us to reach further,

imagine more, and search for our passports."

One of my greatest compliments was from a fan, who made a journey to Paris just to find a specific location in one of my books. I would like to think my story inspired that reader’s search for her passport, but honestly, I cannot take the credit. Paris has that affect on readers.

The first of my two mystery series, published from London in 2012, was accurately promoted as “Paris Mysteries" because each of the seven books begins, ends, or embraces Paris somewhere in the middle... somewhere just about the 6th Arrondissement. When journalist Ben Foulof disappears from assignment in the Middle East, mystery writer Jamie Litton must begin searching for him, not knowing how much of his best friend’s past was true and how much was a lie. Can it be true that Ben is a spy? Can secret codes hidden in bestsellers keep them both alive? For how long? In this seven-book saga, 30 years.

Who Knew? Spies Read!

From an author’s perspective, writing in a popular genre such as International Mysteries and about a place that I love just made sense. However, from a publisher’s perspective, it was unexpectedly rewarding when fans of SEVEN PARIS MYSTERIES began calling this an action/adventure series and sales in this category began topping others. My theme was simple. What might a person not know about his best friend? And if much of what he had believed proved to be lies, would he still be willing to risk everything to protect his best friend? My stories lean toward psychological suspense as they intentionally lack the gratuitous violence that saturates other genre. I prefer to call them mysteries. I appreciate authors who don’t insult my intelligence or my senses, so I purposely design stories to encourage my audience to think, not blink or worse…  stop reading.

My second mystery series, MRS DUCHESNEY MYSTERIES, takes on another 30-year journey through Paris, but this time with two Paris sleuths, who are the most unlikely pair to become partners in solving art thefts. While Francine Robinsworth Duchesney came to Paris from a small town in the American Midwest, her charming partner Louie Arnaud Bertrand arrived towing his intriguing past from Italy and the island of Malta. Their success in solving crimes is matched by their failure in matters of love. With a only a gentle sprinkling of humor, the MRS. DUCHESNEY MYSTERIES series distinguishes itself from the more serious SEVEN PARIS MYSTERIES, but both offer a colorful tapestry of characters to intrigue and amuse.

In whatever manner my readers choose to describe my books, the good news is that they have solved the mystery of where to buy them!
