Why do I do, what I do ?
A question that is wise to ask yourself in between.
Fell over a post I posted shortly after I started www.marpro.dk in 2013. In hindsight, that's the wise word I'm actually been able to live up to for 7 years now. Maybe you can use it for inspiration?
In reality, it is a business plan. An untraditional one, since my privacy is incorporated. But shouldn't it really always be?
Why do I do what I do? What is the goal? What if someone stood with a permanent job at 15.000 EUR per. month, would I then exchange my independence? Why did I knuckle my ass out of my pants without guarantee that there is money is there when the bills must be paid? What drives me?
I thought about it for a few days - then on my way on holiday, in the plane to Istanbul, I formulated it. I have not corrected a sentence, because I think it is razor sharp:
I would like to own my own company, rather a smaller company without interference than a larger company with investors and board of directors.
I give high priority to freedom. Freedom to work more or less, freedom to work when I think it's fun and take time off when I do not feel like it.
I want to work with people who have the same independent attitude.
I want to work at times that suit my family and will not be away from them for long periods of time.
I want to earn well, I do not have the goal in itself to get really rich, but I want the financial freedom to do what I want within a realistic framework.
I do not want to be afraid of what others think and I do not want to be dependent on political agendas, other people's whims or pressures.
I do not want to be dependent on a single customer, as that customer then gains power over me and my priorities.
I will don′t want to exposed to the risk of losing my work by termination of contract or selling the company.
That's what I want! That's why I do as I do ;-)
I would recommend you to think about it - what is it you want - lift yourself up with the virtual helicopter and then think about about your personal priorities.
Comments are welcome, I think it's exciting to hear what you think about the above and what thoughts it sets in motion in you.

3 年Jakob, I completely agree. Having influence over the decision making process, being part of a great team and learning what it takes to build a company from the ground up with all the challenges, excitement and opportunities that come with it is far more rewarding.
