?And what does optimized mean, anyway?
"An optimized LinkedIn profile is one where every part of your personal profile is filled out and shows audiences what you do, who you are, and what you are an expert in. This helps your profile rank higher in LinkedIn searches and builds trust among those who might want to connect or follow you." everyonesocial.com
As a recruiter, I spend at least 4 hours a day on LinkedIn. It's a tab that's always open.
Many of my Recruiting brethren have access to LinkedIn Recruiter, which allows us to see every profile, whether they are 2nd or 3rd connections, and send InMails.?We can see everyone.

If your profile only has your Job Title and years of service, it’s very challenging, if not impossible for recruiters to know what you’ve been doing, especially for some generic titles like Project Manager or Account Manager.?
If your company isn’t well known and there’s no description or link, we have to do research to find out what they do and maybe we can figure out what you were doing while you were there.

Your profile mirrors your resume, has a one-line explanation of your not very well know company, and shows the details of what you did.
Who do you think is going to get contacted first?
Plus, on Linkedin you can add the top skills you used for each job – so helpful for you to showcase how awesome you are, and for recruiters to see how skilled you are.? We search for those skills, so the more you have the better.
You’re also going to want to add more connections.? The more people you know, the more eyes will be on your profile – it really is “who you know".? Your profile will help you connect with colleagues, peers, mentors and potential clients or employers. Those connections are going to be the people that help you get closer to your new job.
It also ups your personal brand – your LinkedIn profile is an extension of that and it helps you to establish yourself as an expert in your field, your accomplishments and talents.
Furthermore, you can showcase achievements, awards and other successes to make yourself as appealing as possible to potential employers/recruiters.
In summary, an optimized LinkedIn profile will help recruiters find you and read your whole profile, ?help you grow your network and build a strong online presence.
