Why do Google Business Profile Posts get rejected?

Every week, I perform online audits to ensure everything is in order. I was surprised that some of my posts on my Google Business Profile (GBP) had been rejected. I didn’t panic but was furious because I believed those posts were the bomb!

It was time to research and investigate the reasons behind the rejection. Some of the mentioned reasons include;

  • Spam, false claims, or false representation
  • Off-topic post that doesn’t pertain to your business
  • Duplicate content
  • Inappropriate content
  • Offensive language

?These are your typical rejection reasons, right? I wasn’t satisfied with these reasons and decided to dive deeper and read the full Google Business Profile Post Content Policy.

?As per the policy, posts will be rejected if;

  • Content is irrelevant to the business or has no clear association with the business.
  • You use your Business Profile as a forum for general political, social commentary, or personal rants.
  • You have misspellings, use gimmicky characters, gibberish, or automated or have distracting content such as a blurry or poor image or video quality, or unrecognizable content.
  • The video is entirely dedicated to alcoholic beverages (alcohol is the main focus of the video).
  • Hotels create “offer” posts or any post that suggests the existence of or that links out to deals, promotions, special offers, or discounts.

The above are just some of the policies that will get your content rejected or removed from Google Business Profile.

So, what did I do to get my posts approved?

I tweaked my post caption and changed the image... and Voilà! the post was approved!
